SKIN REJUVENATION AND RESURFACING

SKIN REJUVENATION AND RESURFACING

While cosmetic surgeons are able to produce remarkable alterations with surgery, there are a multitude of procedures that enhance and rejuvenate the appearance of the skin without surgery

Introduction

Some examples include:

  • Laser treatments – Lasers can be used to resurface the entire face, or select areas to activate collagen production, revealing a new layer of refreshed and rejuvenated skin.
  • Mechanical/Non-laser procedures – Intense pulse light (IPL) can be used to remove discolored skin pigmentation and reduce the appearance of wrinkles; microdermabrasion uses a mild abrasive to remove the outermost layer of skin.
  • Chemical treatments – Like laser treatments, chemical peels can be used to remove a layer of skin from the face, using newly-created collagen to rejuvenate the look and feel of the skin.
  • Fillers and injections – Fillers and neuromodulators can help fill fine lines, add volume to areas where facial aging has occurred, create beautiful anatomic accents, and relax muscles that create or add to wrinkles and frown lines. These are these most common procedure performed in all aspects of cosmetic surgery.

While each of these procedures have similar goals, each approach has specific benefits and targets particular issues. Your cosmetic surgeon can help you determine which treatment options would be best to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
